With more people due to be given personal health budgets- make sure you understand the mental health medicines you take

personal health budgets

According to the Pharmaceutical Journal, the government is proposing giving approximately 350,000 more people access to their own individual health budgets (read full article here). In particular, this will apply to patients who regularly access mental health services.

This approach aims to give power back to individuals to determine how best their needs can be met. Quality of life will be improved and the care received will be better suited to each particular person.

If you are a person using community mental health services regularly, you could be one of the thousands given a personal health budget in the near future. In order to make the most of this opportunity and to determine what care will suit you best, it is important for you to properly understand the medicines you take.
