Are your staff fully compliant with the new 2017 NICE Guidelines?

On 30th March 2017, NICE released new guidelines for managing medicines for adults receiving social care in the community.

Did you know…?

  • You must record the medicines support given to a person for each individual medicine on every occasion
  • When a family member gives a medicine e.g. during a day out, you must agree with the person/ family member how this will be recorded
  • When a person declines their medicine, you should consider waiting a short while before offering it again
  • You need to ensure there is an up-to-date Patient Information Leaflet for each medicine supplied, in the person’s home (including medicines supplied in monitored dosage systems)
